Living in South Charlotte is a local publication and YouTube channel covering daily life, communities, schools, things to do, and the housing market across the 13 South Charlotte areas, from Waxhaw and Weddington to Ballantyne, Matthews, Fort Mill, and Indian Land.
It exists because most of what gets written about this area is either a listing feed or a press release. What people actually want to know before they move somewhere is quieter than that. How long the drive really takes at 7:40 on a Tuesday. Which streets flood. What the HOA covers. Whether the new development down the road is going to change the school assignment.
Who writes it
Steve Jarrell writes and films Living in South Charlotte. He is team lead of The Longleaf Group at eXp Realty, which he co-leads with Amanda Jarrell, and an eXp ICON Team member. He has been making videos about this area since 2022, and the channel now covers more than eighty communities and towns.
Steve is a licensed real estate broker, and that is worth saying plainly. It is why the reporting here can get specific about price, inventory, and what is actually selling. It is also why this site keeps a published standards page describing where the numbers come from and how corrections are handled.
If you are buying or selling in the area, that side of things lives at The Longleaf Group. This site is the reading, not the sales pitch.
